Professional Bio
Tharaka is a Postgraduate Fellow at the Canberra Hospital. He migrated to Australia in 2014 from Sri Lanka where he was working as an Aneasthetic Registrar and also completed a Diploma in Critical care medicine. He commenced his training in Sydney (at Campbelltown hospital) and moved to Canberra in 2020 as an Advanced Trainee.
Tharaka has special interests in POCUS and Geriatric Emergency Medicine (GEM) and is a member of the ACEM GEM Network.
He is also the Regional New Fellows champion for ACT.
He has sailed the rough seas and faced all the demons from AMC exams to ACEM fellowship exams while managing two kids with a full time working wife (who is a GP).
