Who wants to be a DEM? Exploring Leader Identity Threat in Emergency Medicine
Improving the ability of the healthcare system to meet changing population needs, complex health conditions and the demands of increasing life expectancy is a global challenge that highlights the need and opportunity for physician leadership. Emergency medicine is a discipline with complex leadership demands, which are experienced by junior and senior emergency physicians alike. In this environment, emergency physicians can struggle to work out what it means to be a leader and develop professional identities as leaders. This webinar will introduce and explore the excellent work of PhD candidate Dr Lee Wong with his thesis titled “Diagnosing Leader Identity Threat in Emergency Medicine”. Through an interactive panel conversation the webinar will also discuss the latest publication raising the question of “Are Emergency Departments Leader Identity Workspaces?”
