Dr Ramesh Kumar Maharjan, MBBS, MD GP, DM EM, 1st Doctorate of Emergency Medicine of Nepal in September 2014, 1st Emergency Medicine Physician registered in Nepal Medical Council in November 2014, Chief of Department of Emergency Medicine, Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University, and the 1st established Department of Emergency Medicine in Nepal in January 2022. Dr Maharjan did MBBS in 1999, MD in General Practice in 2005 and DM Emergency Medicine in 2014; all the medical education from Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University in Nepal. He is Member of various Medical Councils and Societies in the World and in Nepal. He is Founder Coordinator of Nepal Disaster and Emergency Medicine Center (NADEM www.nadem.org.np) after he presented “Need of Emergency Medicine in Nepal” in WADEM Conference 2007 in Amsterdam as Scholar of WADEM. He is Founder President of Nepalese Society of Emergency Physicians www.nsep.org.np established in 2015; he is Founder Executive Member (Patron) of Society of Emergency Nurses of Nepal (SENN) www.sen.org.np established in 2019; he is Founder Executive Member (Patron) of Society of Emergency Paramedics of Nepal SEPN established on January 28, 2023 during Nepal SACEM 2023 International Conference 25-28 January 2023 in Kathmandu Nepal as Dr Maharjan ins the Chair and Chief Coordinator.
He started many National and International Scientific Research Presentation, Publication and Participation in Emergency Medicine and Disaster Medicine since 2000 onwards as young medical doctor to now as Associate Professor. He is Master Trainer of Emergency Care Toolkits ECT Training (WHO Academy June 2022) and Basic Emergency Care (BEC) Trainings of WHO (BEC TOT 2019 in New Delhi India) and Member of GETI Project implementation in Nepal under Health Emergency Operation Center, Ministry of Health and Population, Government of Nepal. He is the lead developer of MD Emergency Medicine Curriculum and Academics in Nepal since 2022 onwards in Nepal. He is Chief Trainer and developer of Basic Emergency Medical Technicians (BEMT) Training in Nepal since 2019 onwards; ToT in CTS for BEMT, ToT in Occupational Health and Safety under National Health Training Center, Ministry of Health and Population, Government of Nepal. He is developer of Advanced First Aid Training for Community People; Community Mother First Aid on Maternity, Adolescent and Child Health; First Aid Training for Ambulance Drivers and Assistants, ‘Training of Trainers’ First Aid Training to Community School Teachers in various parts of Nepal since 2012, then widespread those training after 2015 Earthquake of Nepal during 2015 to 2020 and Chief Writer of “Handbook of First Aid in Nepali” for people of Nepal.
