An Emergency Physician for over 10 years, Ainslie became the Director of the Footscray Emergency Department 6 years ago. Her work-related interests include leadership through change, and governance and strategy.  She was instrumental in the implementation of totally new strategies to both manage and reduce behavioural crises and its effects on patients and staff.  She championed routine violence risk assessment of all patients in Emergency Departments, the success of which prompted hospital-wide implementation locally, and triggered further implementation across several of Melbourne’s hospital and ambulance services. Since then she has championed several other hospital wide processes from the ED, led Footscray ED through the COVID-19 pandemic and implementation of the EMR, and is project lead for the design of the Emergency Department in the New Footscray Hospital, the transition to which she is particularly excited about. Outside of work, she is a wife, mother and step-mother, and lists painting and swimming to be her version of mindfulness.
